Vinyards
El Pino, Isso
This finca has 27 hectares of 40 year old Monastrell vines on their own roots. Phylloxera largely passed this area by. The intense grapes from this dry Finca produce stunning wine. The 2002 vintage, blended with up to 15% Syrah from El Ardal won a bronze medal in the International Wine Challenge, 2005. There are still some cases of this award winning vintage available for purchase.
The finca is outside the village of Isso near Hellin. The area is governed by Albacete, but the wine production comes under the Jumilla Denominacion.
El Ardal
This finca adjoins the renowned El Carche area of vineyards.
There are three areas of Monastrell vines totalling 13 hectares and one parcel of 7 hectares of Syrah (Shiraz). These are irrigated on a minimal basis in the prevailing arrid conditions to produce fully ripened grapes with the necessary balance of sugars and acids to produce quality wine
Manos Helados (Cold Hands)
In winter this finca of 63 hectares appears aptly named, but for most of the year the breezes are cooling in the searing heat of summer. The finca is ‘dry’ as there is no irrigation. The grapes produced are therefore small but intensely flavoured . Monastrell vines are grown on american rootstock and enjoy the powerful sun which enables the fruit to be fully ripened.
